The flowers of Opuntia stricta are spectacular. Bright yellow, they bloom from June to August and are followed by fruits, also furnished with thorns, which turn red when ripe. It is not very thorny, hence its other name, Opuntia inermis. However, it should not be rubbed too closely, because it has small pricks. It is a very beautiful species for gardens without watering .

Native to the Caribbean, Opuntia stricta is a cactus well resistant to cold, since it supports up to -15 ° C if it is well dry. this prickly pear cactus forms a bush more spread out than it is tall, culminating at 1 m high and practically double in width. It forms a single trunk from which spread branches very lined with light green snowshoes.
